Memphis Depay has fallen further behind with Olympique Lyon in the battle for the French title on Friday evening. For a long time it seemed that Lyon would lose on a visit to Stade de Reims, but a striking header from Tino Kadewere from a Depay cross was somewhat limited: 1-1. Number three Lyon is one point behind Paris Saint-Germain and three against Lille OSC with a match played more. Incidentally, Kaj Sierhuis stayed on the bench at Reims for ninety minutes.

The first danger in the game was created by Mattia De Sciglio, whose shot was blocked by Slobodan Rajkovic. After that, Reims got into the game better and a big opportunity followed for Boulaye Dia, who ran up against Anthony Lopes. In the rebound Valon Berisha thought to score, but that was beyond Marcelo’s block. After more than half an hour of play, Reims took the lead when Thomas Foket drove a cross from the right against the ropes: 1-0.

Four minutes after the break, Depay gave a huge opportunity to Lucas Paquetá, who failed to score from fifteen meters. On the other side, Marshall Munetsi could have increased Reims’ lead, but Lopes intervened well. Lyon increased the pressure and also turned up dangerously several times. Depay went beautifully past his opponent on the right side of the box and played Paquetá, who, to his frustration, was not given a penalty after contact with Foket. Lyon played fully on the attack in the final phase and was rewarded for it. Depay sank to the left and passed from there, after which Kadewere headed in the ball: 1-1.
