Olympique Lyon booked an important victory on Sunday evening in the battle for qualification for the Champions League. On a visit to AS Monaco, the team of trainer Rudi Garcia won 2-3 thanks to a late goal from the seventeen-year-old top talent Mathis Ryan Cherki. Memphis Depay scored the best goal of the evening, while the the Dutch-international was also good for an assist.
The game was underway for 25 minutes when Kevin Volland was thrust into the deep by Wissam Ben Yedder. The Monaco attacker was too fast for Lyon defender Jason Denayer and poked the 1-0 against the ropes. Lyon then insisted and tied the score via Depay ten minutes after the break. The visitors broke out from the counter, but because Monaco soon had six defenders behind the ball, the the Dutch-international seemed busy on a hopeless mission. Depay, however, passed three men and before two defenders wanted to stop him, he shot the ball mercilessly against the ropes: 1-1.
