Matthijs de Ligt can prepare for his first starting place of the season at Bayern Munich. The man marker had to watch how Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae were favored in the heart of the defense this season. However, on Saturday afternoon the Dutch international will get the chance from trainer Thomas Tuchel. Noussair Mazraoui is also at the kick-off for the match against VfL Bochum. The match starts at 3:30 PM and can be seen at Viaplay.

Upamecano is still available to play, but has been referred to the bench. De Ligt thus forms a defensive duo with Kim. Mazraoui, who is usually not assured of a starting place, will kick off on Saturday in his familiar right back position. Alphonso Davies is the left back, while Sven Ulreich is between the posts.

Joshua Kimmich and Konrad Laimer are the controllers at the Allianz Arena, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is behind striker Harry Kane. The Englishman is flanked by Leroy Sané (right) and Kingsley Coman (left). Bayern played the Champions League cracker against Manchester United in midweek (4-3 win) and compared to that match, Tuchel, in addition to Upamecano, also leaves Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka on the bench.

In any case, De Ligt’s starting position is a major stroke of luck for the former Ajax player. This season he only played in the starting line-up on behalf of the Dutch team against Ireland (1-2 win). He owed this to the absent Lutsharel Geertruida, who was injured a few days earlier. Tuchel showed understanding for De Ligt’s difficult situation. “Central defenders don’t get that many chances as substitutes. We talk to every player every day, I don’t think a personal conversation about this subject is necessary. Matthijs deserves to play one hundred percent.” Mazraoui was also discussed. “Nous gotta fight, fight and fight. He has to be there when the opportunity comes. He has to keep fighting and stay positive.”
