Borussia Dortmund lost in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. Those Boruses lost 3-0 on a visit to RB Leipzig. Marco Rose, the new coach of the home team, hurts his old employer in his first game for RB Leipzig. The coach was still at the helm of Borussia Dortmund last season.

RB Leipzig started on Saturday afternoon with four of the five summer acquisitions in the base. Abdou Diallo, Xaver Schlager, Timo Werner and David Raum immediately gained the confidence of the new trainer Rose. Donyell Malen was missing from the Borussia Dortmund side due to a thigh injury, which has kept him out for five games. Furthermore, with Raphaël Guerreiro, Jude Bellingham and Marco Reus, among others, the usual names were at the kick-off.

The home team took the lead after six minutes through defender Willi Orbán. The Hungarian headed in a corner from compatriot Dominik Szoboszlai from the penalty spot: 1-0. The latter doubled the lead himself shortly before half-time. The midfielder was given a few meters of space from the Dortmund defense and then shot devastatingly past goalkeeper Alexander Meyer from a great distance: 2-0.

In the final phase, the damage became even greater for Borussia Dortmund. RB Leipzig took advantage of the away team’s sloppy loss of possession. Werner then went to Meyer with Amadou Haidara, who had come in five minutes earlier. The German striker was not selfish and passed the ball to Haidara, who then shot into the empty goal and determined the final score: 3-0. RB Leipzig climbs to tenth place with the win, while Borussia Dortmund forfeit precious points in the battle for the top spots.
