Borussia Dortmund scored a victory in the Bundesliga on Friday evening. At home, the formation of trainer Edin Terzic was too strong for Hoffenheim with 1-0. A goal from Marco Reus after more than fifteen minutes of play made the difference. After the win, Dortmund is provisionally first with twelve points from five games; Hoffenheim is still fifth.

Dortmund started in a 4-5-1 formation. Anthony Modeste, who scored the winning goal against Hertha BSC in the previous match, was once again in the lead of the attack. Behind him, the reinforced midfield had to provide the creativity and supply to the front. At Hoffenheim, striker Andrej Kramaric had to take care of the goals. The Croat was joined in the front by Georginio Rutter, who, among others, kept Munas Dabbur on the bench. Ex-PSV player Angeliño had to create danger from the left.

Reus opened the scoring in the sixteenth minute on a pass from Julian Brandt. The experienced international curled the ball beautifully in the top right corner. A handball from Hoffenheim defender Ozan Kabak seemed to provide a penalty more than ten minutes later. However, after seeing the images, referee Daniel Siebert decided not to put the ball on the spot. A setback for Dortmund just before half-time was the resignation of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who was replaced by Thorgan Hazard.

After an hour of play, Kramaric tried from a direct free kick, but the striker saw his attempt go over and wide of the goal of Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. On the other hand, Hazard saw his shot from a promising position blocked by the Hoffenheim defence. Five minutes later, the Belgian tried again; this time his attempt went straight for Oliver Baumann. Hoffenheim didn’t get much further than a few threatening corner kicks. A final free kick in stoppage time also did not have the desired effect for the visitors, giving Dortmund supporters a sigh of relief.
