Ajax’s interest in Kamaldeen Sulemana has far from faded. English media, including the Daily Mail, write on Sunday that director of football affairs Marc Overmars will board the plane the day after the Classic against Feyenoord to see the nineteen-year-old winger of the Danish FC Nordsjaelland himself at work. The team of Flemming Pedersen will play against FC Copenhagen on Monday evening at 7 p.m.

Overmars was not secretive recently about Ajax’s interest in Sulemana. “This player has of course been put down fantastically in recent months,” said the director three weeks ago ESPN to a question about Sulemana. “I did have some contact with that club. Now every week Ajax comes back as an interested party. Each club tries to put its players in the window. At the moment we also have some wingers running. Whether we should sell first? ”

“Well, that’s a statement I’ve heard before. We will first take a look at what will happen before we may take big steps. ” Overmars warned in the same conversation that Ajax should actually also sell players next summer. “Everyone knows that we have a buffer, but that goes down very quickly. I hope that the stadiums will be sold out again in the new season, because we just need that. I think we do need two transfers, considering expenses and costs. It is known: we have to sell at least fifty million euros to break even. ”

Sulemana was first associated with Ajax at the end of January. France Football was able to report last month that the team from Amsterdam would have made a bid of 11.5 million euros for the two-time Ghanaian international, who is also linked to Olympique Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester United. FC Nordsjaelland, which also sold Mohammed Kudus to Ajax last summer, removed Sulemana from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana in 2019.

Mike Verweij, Ajax watcher of The Telegraph, indicated earlier this month that in view of the financial situation Ajax will have to aim for rental deals for next season and that the arrival of Sulemana will only be possible if players are sold. “Sulemana has been in the picture for a long time and Ajax could do some serious work on that,” said the journalist a week ago. “Rumor has it that Ajax would have already bid. I think it concerns an amount of ten million euros. But you have to sell before you can buy. ”
