The Manchester United players group had an emergency meeting with chairman Ed Woodward on Monday, the Daily Mail to report. The players are outraged by the club’s plans to participate in the Super League. To make matters worse, the selection had to discover the news through the media, as United had not communicated anything about its participation in the new competition prior to the announcement.

At United’s training complex, trainer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team had contact with Woodward via Zoom to discuss the situation. From a distance, the chairman made the club’s plans clear to the team, which had already received the news via the media. The way of communicating and the content of the announcement would have been ‘very poorly’ received by the players group. “We’ve done what’s best for the club,” said Woodward.

Multiple players were absolute not amused with the chairman’s attempt to calm things down. Someone who is certainly not pleased with the Super League plans the Red Devils is Bruno Fernandes. The midfielder makes it clear via Instagram that he does not support the ideas of his employer. “Dreams are not for sale,” Fernandes responded via an Instagram Story to a critical photo of Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Daniel Podence.

Earlier in the day, Woodward was also taken in the mud by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin. “I haven’t had much contact with him, but he (Woodward, ed.) Called me last Thursday to say he is very satisfied with the Champions League reforms planned. He said that he fully supports reform plans and that he is left alone financial fair play want to talk. But he has clearly already drawn something else ”, said Ceferin, who is disappointed to ‘have snakes so close by’.
