Manchester United have contacted Mauricio Pochettino for the first time, Santi Aouna revealed on Tuesday. The journalist of Foot Mercato writes that the English club, which is looking for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was fired on Sunday, is willing to pay a transfer fee for the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, if the club from Paris wants to cooperate with an early departure.

According to the above journalist, PSG is only prepared to let Pochettino go if they have brought in a replacement. Zinedine Zidane is seen as the number one candidate, but the former midfielder has recently indicated that he prefers a job as head coach of the French national team. The PSG squad is said to be interested in signing Zidane for the group. The former international was also briefly on United’s list, but has let the English superpower know that he is not interested.

Manchester Evening News claims Pochettino is willing to come to Old Trafford mid-season to fulfill his dream. The Argentine, who hasn’t quite put his stamp on the game of his star squad yet, is said to be unhappy in a hotel in Paris and would like to return to England. However, the coach would have a transfer fee of around twelve million euros in his contract with PSG. Pochettino has been at the helm of PSG since January this year and has a contract in Paris until the summer of 2023. However, the 49-year-old coach does not have a great relationship with sporting director Leonardo

Pochettino’s name has been on Manchester United’s list for some time. In the summer of 2019 – when he was still manager of Tottenham Hotspur – he was in the picture to become the definitive successor to the sacked Jose Mourinho. However, Manchester United decided to keep the then interim manager Solskjaer in the saddle. In addition to Pochettino and Zidane, the names of Brendan Rodgers (Leicester City), Julen Lopetegui (Seville) and Erik ten Hag (Ajax) have also fallen in recent days. Goal states that Pochettino would like to work at a club where he can exert a lot of influence on decision-making.
