Michael Olise is in line to become Manchester United's first reinforcement in the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era, reports say TheStandard. The 22-year-old winger still has a long-term contract with Crystal Palace, but can leave early due to a release clause.

It is clear that one of United's main priorities this winter is to strengthen the attacking line. Erik ten Hag's team only scored 22 times in the Premier League. Only bottom-ranked Sheffield United (15) and Burnley (20) scored less often.

New owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has realized that there is an urgent need for someone who can score a goal. Several names have been mentioned in recent weeks, including Victor Osimhen, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Thomas Müller.

Ten Hag is mainly looking for a new attack leader to ease the pressure on Rasmus Højlund. The Dane was taken over from Atalanta for at least 75 million euros last summer, but has not always been able to convince at Old Trafford.

Olise is seen as a key target ahead of the squad renovation at the end of the season. The attacker signed a new four-year contract with Crystal Palace in August, but had a release clause included.

The amount of this escape clause is not disclosed. However, this is reportedly considerably higher than the forty million euros in his previous contract with Palace. Olise also receives a generous salary of 115,000 euros per week.

Olise was injured for a long time this season, but has been making strong progress since his return. He has found the net four times in the last four games, including against Manchester City and Chelsea.

The Reading youth product was acquired by Palace for around ten million euros in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has played 80 matches, in which he scored 11 times and acted as a scorer 20 times.
