Sehrou Guirassy, the VfB Stuttgart striker who left Ajax in trouble last summer, is the only top scorer in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old attack leader managed to find the net no fewer than 10 times in the first 5 competition matches in Germany. In addition, Guirassy once acted as a declarant. Partly due to his performance, Stuttgart, normally a low-flyer, is at the top in Germany. Jonas Wind (VfL Wolfsburg), the number two on the top scorers list, ‘only’ managed to find the net 5 times.
Guirassy owes his special average to his goals against VfL Bochum (2), RB Leipzig (1), SC Freiburg (2), 1. FSV Mainz 05 (3) and SV Darmstadt 98 (2). The latter club was defeated 3-1 by Stuttgart on Friday evening. Guirassy’s goal average is on Robert Lewandowski’s path. The Polish striker preceded Guirassy with the same number of goals after five games in the 2020/21 season. Ultimately, FC Barcelona’s current attack leader scored 41 goals for Bayern Munich, breaking Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga record. However, things are still a long way off for Guirassy.
Reported last summer The Telegraph that Sven Mislintat had reported to his former employer Stuttgart for Guirassy’s services. The Amsterdammers were willing to approach the asking price of 15 million euros, but the eight-time Guinea international had his sights set on a transfer to the Premier League. As a result, Ajax did not make a new offer, although Guirassy ultimately continued to play at Stuttgart. In the MHParena the right leg is still fixed until mid-2026.
Guirassy needs one more goal to match his goal tally from last season. At Stuttgart he is already able to record impressive figures. In 34 official matches for those Swabia Guirassy scored 25 goals and 4 assists. Transfer market estimates its current market value at 14 million euros. That is 4 million euros more than the amount that Stuttgart paid at Stade Rennes in the summer of 2022. Ajax eventually did business with the German club by bringing Borna Sosa to Amsterdam.
