Peter Bosz hopes to welcome Serdar Azmoun to the training field at Olympique Lyon in early January, as you know RMC Sports. The coach has agreed to an offer of four million euros for the 26-year-old striker of Zenit Saint Petersburg. Salient detail: Bosz has a painful memory of Azmoun from his time as Ajax coach.

Lyon is going to bring in Azmoun anyway, because there is already a personal agreement with the Iranian about a possible transfer-free transfer as of July 1. The French top club is now negotiating with Zenit about a direct transfer and is therefore willing to pay four million euros. However, it seems that the Russians will not take up the offer and choose to keep Azmoun for another half year.

Last summer Lyon also tried to break Azmoun from Russia, but Zenit did not agree to this despite an offer of fifteen million euros. Now the meshki therefore have to make do with a lot less, if they want to avert a transfer-free departure. Azmoun has been considered the absolute attack leader of Zenit for several years, which took over from Rubin Kazan in January 2019 for twelve million euros. The striker scored no fewer than 62 times and provided 23 assists in 104 official matches for Zenit.

As mentioned, Azmoun is an old acquaintance of Bosz. In the summer of 2016, the striker was one of the eye-catchers of FK Rostov as a young talent, which then competed against Bosz’s Ajax in the last preliminary round of the Champions League. Azmoun was in particular in the first game in Russia, which was won 4-1 against the team from Amsterdam, a plague for the center defenders Jairo Riedewald and Joël Veltman. The elusive Azmoun made that game 1-0 and would eventually advance with Rostov to the group stage of the Champions League. Bosz stayed behind with Ajax in the Europa League, in which he led his team to the lost final against Manchester United.
