Joselu is in good shape with Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui, who is very charmed by the various qualities of the 1.91 meter tall attacker. He can act as a focal point in the front, but is also very dangerous with his face towards the goal. Joselu, who scored 11 goals in 37 LaLiga matches last season, was already linked to Sevilla in May, when De Jong was linked with PSV for the first time. His contract with Alavés will continue until mid-2022, which means that the board of Sevilla must come up with a transfer fee.

The striker seems ready for a temporary move to Turkey.
However, Alavés does not intend to just let Joselu go, as technical director Sergio Fernández recently revealed. “He still has a contract here with an escape clause of 20 million euros. A transfer is not negotiable for us at the moment, although things will be different if a club is willing to meet that amount. However, at the moment nothing is going on. We would like to keep our best players, in order to present the strongest possible team”, the Alavés director said in clear terms last week.
Sevilla is therefore taking into account an interim departure of De Jong. Fotomaç reported on Saturday that there is almost an agreement with Besiktas about a rental period. Among other things, there is talk about the way in which the salary of the striker of 2.5 million euros will be paid next season. Sevilla would have made a proposal to continue to pay 500,000 euros, while the remainder of 2 million euros had to be coughed up by Besiktas. Besiktas’ counter-proposal was to simply divide the salary in half, amounting to a payment of 1.25 million euros per club. Fotomaç expects both sides to compromise and eventually reach an agreement.

A return to PSV does not seem to be definitively off the job for the attacker yet.
In the meantime, De Jong would personally prepare for a departure to Turkey. His contract with Sevilla will run until mid-2023 and it is unclear whether Besiktas can negotiate an option to buy. Last season, De Jong lost the competition with club top scorer Youssef En-Nesyri. The European Championship-goer of the Dutch was used fourteen times over the entire season as a basic player, but since March that happened only four times. In addition, De Jong was only on the field once for ninety minutes in LaLiga. Two months ago it became clear that PSV was also thinking about his arrival. Technical director John de Jong recently announced that the chance that De Jong will return to PSV is not very great.
