There seems to be no progress in the negotiations between Borussia Dortmund and PSV about the transfer of Donyell Malen. The Eindhoven club is sticking to the asking price of 30 million euros, while BVB does not wish to go beyond EUR 25 million. It is not impossible that Dortmund will prematurely end the talks with PSV, according to the words of technical director Michael Zorc on Monday.

“Above all else, we must make a wise decision,” it sounds in an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten. “Everything has to be right financially, otherwise as a club you just have to say ‘no’.” The Dortmund driver hopes for a quick agreement, so that Malen can still join a training camp to Switzerland later this week. “It would only be good for the trainer if there is something concrete before that time. But unfortunately as a club you do not always have everything in hand,” sighs the realistic Zorc, who will soon hand over the baton to former player Sebastian Kehl.

Dortmund is looking for a successor to Jadon Sancho, who makes the switch to Manchester United for 85 million euros. Malen appeared on the radar of the Germans some time ago, who hope for a breakthrough in the negotiations with PSV. In the meantime, it has become clear that European Championship-goer Malen, according to The Telegraph returns to Eindhoven on July 22 to start preparing for the new season, just like Denzel Dumfries. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad however, there is no specific date attached to the duo’s return.

“If there is no prospect of a transfer, PSV will train the duo. However, it can also go quickly with a transfer, if agent Mino Raiola also gives his blessing,” writes PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of the regional newspaper. The journalist’s comment raises question marks on social media, because he seems to insinuate that the Italian Dutchman has the last word. “He does not have the last word,” Elfrink emphasizes in a response. “But he is an important factor. Of course PSV also has a voice. The fact that this is not explicitly stated does not mean that it is not the case.” According to Elfrink, PSV still assumes a quick transfer from Malen to Dortmund, even if there is no final agreement yet.
