Newcastle United have let the second Premier League win of the season slip through the fingers in the final phase. In my own house it looked like for a long time the Magpies would take a win, but in the 88th minute Watford still tied the score: 1-1. At the same time, Everton lost 2-1 to Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers was 3-1 too strong for Southampton.

Newcastle United v Watford 1-1
Kieran Trippier, who came over from Atlético Madrid, made his comeback in the Premier League, while Chris Wood, the winter asset in the striker position, also immediately got a base place at Newcastle. The first half was a feast for the eyes for the neutral viewer, although not a single shot was recorded on goal. Joelinton caused a moment of excitement in the eleventh minute with a header on the crossbar and in the eighteenth minute he went just wide. Watford also failed to convert the respective opportunities into goals. Six minutes after the break, the score was opened by Newcastle. Allan Saint-Maximin took advantage of a slip from Jeremy Ngakia, cut in and hit the short corner with a hard shot: 1-0. Still, Newcastle let the three points slip through the fingers. In the 88th minute of play, João Pedro equalized on a pass from Kiko with a nice header: 1-1.

Norwich City – Everton 2-1
Anwar El Ghazi officially became part of Everton last Thursday and was directly in the match selection. However, the winger had to settle for a spot on the bench against Norwich, where keeper Tim Krul defended the goal. The home team already enjoyed a comfortable lead after eighteen minutes of play. Opened after fifteen minutes of play the Canaries fortunately the score. Joshua Sargent delivered a tight cross into the goal mouth, where Michael Keane stood and the ball worked into his own goal: 1-0. Two minutes later Norwich doubled the lead. It was Adam Idah who converted a lightning-fast counter into a goal on a pass from Brandon Williams: 2-0. In the second act Everton came back into the game. Krul failed to process a pass in the desired way and boxed the ball into Richarlison’s feet. The Brazilian scored at the height of the penalty spot in an acrobatic way: 2-1. Although the visitors were still looking for the equalizer, a defeat could not be averted.

Wolverhampton Wanderers – Southampton 3-1
The game could have gone either way in the first half as the teams proved evenly matched. It sat the Wolves eight minutes before half time, when referee Michael Salisbury awarded a controversial penalty after VAR intervention. Southampton defender Jan Bednarek appeared to play the ball at first, but slipped on to Rayan Aït-Nouri and was penalized. Raúl Jiménez finished the great opportunity from eleven meters: 1-0. After an hour of play, Wolverhampton’s second goal came thanks to Conor Coady, who saw a header from Max Kilman hit the post and took advantage of the rebound: 2-0. In the 84th minute, James Ward-Prowse showed his specialty once again, bringing Southampton back into the game with a stunning free kick: 2-1. Adama Traoré ended the game in stoppage time with his first goal of the game. The wing striker was launched by Aït-Nouri and calmly passed Fraser Forster: 3-1.
