Leicester City won against Crystal Palace on Monday evening. The team of Brendan Rodgers fell behind early due to a razor-sharp counter and made up for it in the second half thanks to an assist and beautiful goal from Kelechi Iheanacho: 2-1. For example, Leicester remains firmly in third place with a four-point lead over Chelsea. That can lead the Foxes good use because of the heavy schedule.

Early in the game, Crystal Palace took the lead. In the twelfth minute Christian Benteke intercepted the ball on the center line at Youri Tielemans. The ball ended up with Eberechi Eze, who set Wilfried Zaha free for Kasper Schmeichel with a beautiful through ball. The Palace striker finished the job calmly: 0-1. Leicester then had the initiative, but failed to create a decent chance in the first half.

That changed in the second half, as the equalizer fell five minutes after the break. Iheanacho controlled a tricky bouncing ball in the penalty area and put back to Timothy Castagne, who found the far cross with his lesser left leg: 1-1. Leicester was then especially dangerous via Jamie Vardy, who bumped into keeper Guaita in the short corner and then aimed threateningly wide. Ten minutes before time, Leicester still got his desired goal. Johnny Evans sent a long ball to Iheanacho, who picked him up in the penalty area. The striker turned around and hit the ball with the left devastatingly into the short corner: 2-1. After that, Ayoze Pérez killed another huge opportunity, but it didn’t hurt Leicester anymore.

Thanks to the victory, Leicester is one step closer to a ticket for the Champions League. The number three in the league still plays against Southampton (away), Newcastle United (home), Manchester United (away), Chelsea (away) and Tottenham Hotspur (home) in the last five games of the season. In addition, Leicester still plays the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
