The KNVB has appointed Björn Kuipers to lead the final of the TOTO KNVB Cup between Ajax and Vitesse on Sunday. The referee will be assisted from the sidelines by Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra, while Allard Lindhout will be the fourth official. Pol van Boekel is the VAR from Zeist, assisted by Joost van Zuilen.

It will therefore be a great week for Kuipers, who was already appointed by UEFA on Monday morning for the return of the quarter final in the Champions League between Liverpool and Real Madrid on Wednesday evening. During that match at Anfield he is also assisted by his permanent assistants Van Roekel and Zeinstra; Van Boekel is also the VAR, although this time Dennis Higler is his assistant.

Last season, the final between Feyenoord and FC Utrecht was not completed. In the year before, the final went between Willem II and Ajax (0-4) and Serdar Gözübüyük was the referee. Kuipers was in charge of a cup final for the last time in the season before, when Feyenoord won 3-0 against AZ. Ajax and Vitesse will face each other in the final in De Kuip on Sunday from 6 p.m.
