Wim Kieft and René van der Gijp are not pleased with the game of, among others, Olivier Boscagli and Mario Götze. According to the analysts, the PSV duo was partly responsible for the 3-0 defeat against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. During the review on Veronica Inside Kieft and Van der Gijp also state that they were disturbed by the ‘naivety’ of the people of Eindhoven.

“It went well, until the moment came where it had to happen. And then it didn’t happen,” begins Van der Gijp, who is supplemented by Kieft. “Look, a draw is enough. You play against an opponent who does not want to play football and gives you the initiative. They are at their best when they play on the counter. Then I think you should play a little more carefully. Then it is best to stand thirty meters back at different times. And then you also get individual errors.”

“That Boscagli was really dramatic,” Kieft continues. “He is wrong at the first big chance (by Aleksander Isak, ed.). You block that boy, or you just knock him down massively. It was all very easy with him. As a coach you also have influence on that. Because you can indicate that they should keep it so closed, so that large spaces can never arise.” Van der Gijp was particularly disturbed by the performance of Mario Götze. “You buy it for these kinds of matches, and not for NEC at home. He doesn’t have sixty percent of who he once was. He was never fast, but he’s really slow now.”

Götze appeared in front of the camera of after the loss PSV TV. “They defended well and we were not clinical enough, especially in the last part before the goal we were not decisive enough. We have to work on that,” said the midfielder, who also criticized referee Felix Zwayer. “How he led the game for 90 minutes was not good. You have to be one hundred percent, especially in these kinds of decisive matches. That’s why I was so mad on the field. So many fouls were made on me and I didn’t see a card.”
