Philippe Sandler made an impression on Sunday evening, that is the conclusion of the table guests present Football talk by ESPN. The NEC centre-back did not help his club win the cup, but he did play a good match against Feyenoord.

“Can he join PSV, Feyenoord and Ajax? In terms of football, I think so,” Willem Vissers believes. “But it is not without reason that he has not been fit so often.” The journalist from de Volkskrant fears that Sandler, given his injury history, cannot physically compete with the traditional top three.

As far as Kenneth Perez is concerned, PSV must nevertheless strike. The Dane mentions that André Ramalho has an expiring contract in Eindhoven. “Then you have a better option in Sandler, right?”

“If you want to have every position double occupied, he is an excellent option,” thinks Sjoerd Mossou. “Then you have a boy who knows the competition well, who speaks the language and who is relatively affordable. You would almost wonder why they wouldn't do it.”

Perez does have a number of comments on Sandler's play. According to the former player of Ajax and PSV, among others, the NEC man plays with 'a certain laziness and arrogance'.

“It's a bit like Virgil van Dijk, what it looks like. Only: if it has to happen, Van Dijk cannot be beat. And I thought Sandler was disappointing against Brobbey from Ajax. That was laconic,” Perez concludes.

The 27-year-old Sandler has a contract with NEC until mid-2025. According to Transfer market the defender is worth an amount of 2.5 million euros.
