Ángel Di María is an official Juventus player, the club announces through the official channels. The 34-year-old wing striker is taken over from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and signs a contract until mid-2023. Juventus is outsmarting Barcelona with the arrival of Di María. The Catalans were also interested in the Argentinian, but did not yet have the finances in order to actually make an offer.

With Di María, Juventus gets the creative impulse that trainer Massimiliano Allegri has been looking for for a long time. The Argentinian ran out of his contract and decided not to exercise the option for another year in Paris. After retiring from PSG, Di María wanted to remain active in a top European competition to maximize his chance at the World Cup in Qatar. The dribbler announced his retirement as Argentina international after the World Cup earlier this year.

Di María started his career with the Argentine Rosario Central. A year after his debut in the main squad, he was taken over by Benfica. In 2010, Real Madrid paid 33 million euros for the services of the Argentine. After a failed adventure under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, Di María made the switch to PSG, where he played for seven years. The winger played a total of 295 games for the Parisians and scored 93 goals. He played 122 international matches for the Argentina national team, scoring 25 times.

Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season. In the Champions League, the club were eliminated by Villarreal in the eighth finals. This summer they had to say goodbye to, among others, Giorgio Chiellini (Los Angeles FC) and Álvaro Morata (Atlético Madrid, end of lease). Paulo Dybala will not renew his contract with Juventus either. The Argentinian has long been linked to a move to Internazionale. In addition, Paul Pogba, like Di María, will be an important reinforcement.
