Ian Maatsen is not welcome at Chelsea’s training camp, journalist Adam Newson knows. The left back has been in the interest of Feyenoord for a long time, but he ruled out a switch to Rotterdam earlier this week. The twenty-year-old defender wants, according to the General Newspaper likes to go for his chances at Chelsea. The chances for the team from Rotterdam to attract Maatsen may suddenly increase after the decision of manager Thomas Tuchel.

Last week, Maatsen trained with the Chelsea first team. While waiting for the return of the internationals, the left back was already preparing for the new season. He hoped to seize his chance and put himself in the spotlight of Tuchel, who now seems to be coming with bad news for the top talent. According to Newson, Maatsen was not called up for the training camp in the United States.

leave on Saturday the Blues first to Los Angeles to prepare for the new season. Over the next two weeks, Chelsea will play exhibition games with Club América, Charlotte FC and Arsenal. All internationals and returned mercenaries have now reported to the club and Tuchel will therefore be working with the full selection again for the first time since the last international match. Reportedly, the coach is also counting on the arrival of Raheem Sterling, who appears to be coming over from Manchester City soon and may join the training camp later.

Feyenoord are still looking for a new left-back since Tyrell Malacia left for Manchester United. Despite the earlier, cautious rejection of the left-back himself, the chances for Feyenoord to bring in Maatsen seem increased by Tuchel’s decision. Maatsen will now have to train with the Chelsea Under 23. The wing defender played briefly in Feyenoord’s youth academy, but he had to leave at the age of seven.
