Atalanta and Juventus shared the points in the Serie A on Sunday evening. The home side were unable to create a fist offensively in the first half, but screamed bloody murder with half an hour on the clock as Wojciech Szczesny left his box and knocked over Koopmeiners without playing the ball. However, both referee Maurizio Mariani and the VAR did not think the Polish goalkeeper’s clumsy action was worth a card. Juventus further increased the pressure in the second half. Sportiello had to stretch again on a nice attempt by Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot was close with a shot into the side net.
Twenty minutes before the end, Berat Djimsiti seemed to become the schlemiel of the evening by almost promoting a corner by Mattia De Sciglio to an own goal. Where Juventus claimed the lead most, Malinovskyi managed to break the spell on behalf of Atalanta against all proportions. A short free kick by Remo Freuler was brilliantly shot into the top left corner by the substitute from about thirty meters: 1-0. The team of trainer Gian Piero Gasperini also had a serious opportunity to decide the match in the final phase, but on a pass from match winner Malinovskyi, Hateboer hit the bar from close by. The visitors seemed to run into an expensive defeat. A good header from Danilo in injury time still brought some solace to Juventus: 1-1.
