Juventus booked an important 0-2 victory on Saturday evening in the Serie A visiting Lazio. Leonardo Bonucci made the difference by using two penalties. Because of the victory comes number six la Vecchia Signora level with Lazio, which is fifth. Both teams have 21 points from 13 matches, but the Romans have a better goal difference.

Lazio, where Bobby Adekanye is still missing due to injuries, had to do without his star player Ciro Immobile. The Serie A top scorer was in doubt and ultimately proved unfit to play. Matthijs de Ligt started at Juventus in the base. The defender formed the heart of the defense together with Bonucci. The opening phase was mainly dominated by scanning for both teams. After more than twenty minutes of play, the visitors had the perfect opportunity to open the score, when referee Marco Di Bello decided to put the ball on the spot after the intervention of the VAR. Danilo Cataldi disadvantaged his team by taking too much risk in the box with a tackle on Álvaro Morata. Bonucci did not fail eye to eye with Pepe Reina from eleven meters: 0-1.

Ten minutes before half time, Lazio recorded his first achievement of the match. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s shot from distance, however, was easy prey for Wojciech Szczesny. Morata then had a good opportunity to double the margin for coach Massimiliano Allegri’s team. The attacker saw his volley just fly over the bar. Juventus came out of the dressing room strong in the second half. Dejan Kulsevski tried with a shot into the short corner, but Reina showed herself alert. The visitors then got the chance to break out via a counter. In the end it did not lead to great danger, because Kulsevski lost the ball in a clumsy way.

Lazio and Juventus presented the visitors in Stadio Olimpico with an unexciting second half. Bringing in Moise Kean for Morata brought a little more life to the match. The attacker first saw a shot blocked by Francesco Acerbi and not much later saw a header land on the roof of the goal. In the final phase, Juventus closed the game after all. Chiesa dealt with an outbound Reina, who floored the attacker on the way back, after which referee Di Bello had no choice to put the ball on the spot for the second time this evening. Bonucci went behind the ball and shot again impeccably: 0-2.
