Christophe Galtier expects that he will not be able to have Justin Kluivert in the coming period. The 22-year-old attacker of OGC Nice made his comeback after a hamstring injury during the Ligue 1 match against FC Lorient (1-0 loss) on Wednesday evening, but things went wrong again for the two-time international.

Kluivert sustained the hamstring injury at the end of August during a game against Girondins de Bordeaux. As a result, the attacker missed the competition matches against FC Nantes and AS Monaco. Kluivert returned to the starting eleven against Lorient on Tuesday evening, although his return was short-lived. After more than twenty minutes of play, he committed a foul, after which it shot into his hamstring again. Kluivert was booked and Lorient scored from the free kick that followed.

Kluivert was replaced by Calvin Stengs. The former AZ attacker was also unable to turn the tide for the number seven in Ligue 1. In addition to the 1-0 defeat, the loss of Kluivert also hurt trainer Galtier. “I expect it to take a long time, because it is a muscle injury,” he tells L’Equipe.

Galtier, who very surprisingly won the national title last year with Lille OSC, was very disappointed after the game against Lorient. “I have a bad taste in this game. We had trouble with our opponent’s direct play, the goal against also arises from a standard situation.” According to the coach, Nice brought too little in attacking terms. “We didn’t create many chances ourselves. There is disappointment, because my team could have put the opponent in danger, but we simply did not enforce enough.”
