Hans Kraay junior is very enthusiastic about Mika Godts. The Belgian wing attacker made his return to Jong Ajax on Friday evening after three months of injuries during a narrow defeat against ADO Den Haag (2-1). Godts played as a substitute for the last half hour and made quite an impression with his many successful dribbles.

“Everything about him is football,” the analyst begins ESPN his hymn Football on Friday. “He simply looks for his direct opponent,” says Kraay junior, while images are shown of Godts simply passing Timothy Derijck.

Just fifteen minutes before the end he asserted himself again by beating ADO players Justin Che and Jerry van Wolfgang with a quick foot movement. The Belgian then dribbled towards the center, sent midfielder Lasse Vigen into the woods with a feint and then tried with a shot from about twenty meters. Goalkeeper Nick Marsman kept ADO on its feet at this moment by tapping the ball from the top left corner.

“With one movement he simply loses opponents by five or six meters,” says Kraay junior. “I think he's so good. I already thought so, but it's such a shame that he got injured. I would say: 'Carlos Forbs, eat your heart out, because God is hot on your heels.' You go crazy when you have players like that as a defender. He comes straight towards you and can pass inside or outside. I can't imagine it will be long before he plays in Ajax 1 again.” The wing attacker has so far played 140 minutes in Ajax 1, spread over 12 matches.

At the end of the broadcast, the analyst is asked by presenter Toine van Peperstraten about his moment of the evening. “You know Toine, I like beautiful and real football players. Jesus, Mika Godts… You are so good and you have such potential,” Kraay junior addresses the Belgian.

“I hope you get so incredibly far, because this is what we want to see from wingers: acceleration, passing movement and maintaining an overview. Everything about him is beautiful. When he comes out of the dressing room and he hasn't hit a ball yet, his shirt hangs with flair, his socks are beautiful. You already know, I am a huge fan of Mika Godts.”
