Manchester United are not planning to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave, the assures BBC† The 37-year-old superstar has suddenly become part of persistent rumors of a farewell in the past 24 hours, but ‘sources around the club’ say, according to the broadcaster, that Ronaldo is not moving to Chelsea. The BBC also knows nothing about the alleged talks with AS Roma, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport

Chelsea are indeed interested in signing Ronaldo, now that Romelu Lukaku is loaned back to Internazionale, but seems to have no chance given United’s attitude. Chelsea have had a visit from Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes in recent days, fueling rumors about the Portuguese star. The BBC be aware, however, that Mendes, speaking with Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly, had traveled to London not for his most famous client, but for one of the other players in his stable.

Ronaldo may under no circumstances leave Erik ten Hag, who sees a central role in his project for the goal getter. Ronaldo was one of the few Manchester United players last season to escape fierce criticism from outside. The veteran attacker has more than fulfilled his own role with 18 league goals and will be serving his final year of contract at Old Trafford.

United do not want to let important players leave, but rather attract them. The club is approaching an agreement with Barcelona for eighty million euros for top target Frenkie de Jong, the British reported GOAL† United already reported to Ajax for Antony, although the Brazilian wing striker seems to be too expensive and alternatives are being looked at up front. For the positions in the back, Ten Hag received a rejection from Ajax player Jürrien Timber, which makes the coach seem to shift his attention to teammate Lisandro Martínez. Denzel Dumfries of Internazionale is in the picture to cover the right wing defensively.
