Sander Boschker is talking to The Telegraph recorded for Remko Pasveer. In recent weeks, there has been more than once criticism of the 37-year-old goalkeeper, who was taken over from Vitesse on a free transfer last summer. According to Boschker, every new keeper of Ajax is initially not considered good enough.

Boschker played his entire career for FC Twente, with the exception of the 2003/04 season that he spent at Ajax. The current goalkeeper coach of FC Twente acted as the third goalkeeper behind Bogdan Lobont and Maarten Stekelenburg, ultimately did not play any official game and had his contract dissolved after one year, after which he returned to Enschede.

“I’ve known Remko for so long. He was the second goalkeeper behind me at FC Twente eighteen years ago and then made his debut because I injured my shoulder. I am convinced that he will come out of this situation strong”, Boschker says. Due to the injury of Maarten Stekelenburg, Pasveer is provisionally the first goalkeeper at Ajax, also because André Onana is still serving a doping suspension and is still in possession of an expiring contract.

“Last year at Vitesse he kept well and then suddenly he couldn’t do anything anymore? It is true that every keeper who comes to Ajax is initially not considered good enough. In the long run, this criticism will subside and then it will be looked at more realistically. I expect it will be the same with Remko,” emphasizes Boschker. Pasveer has been under the bar in nine Ajax matches for the time being.
