The Eredivisie has added a new flavor with Bas Dost. The FC Utrecht striker was on Saturday visiting RKC Waalwijk (2-2) good for two hits and saved a point for his team. The Domstedelingen had to pull out all the stops in the second half so as not to start the new season with a defeat. For the cameras of ESPN Afterwards, Dost expressed his thanks to his new employer.

Utrecht faced a 2-0 deficit at halftime due to hits from Dario Van den Buijs (shot from a corner) and Iliass Bel Hassani (shot through the inside of the post). In the second half, however, the team of coach Henk Fraser put things in order, thanks to an outstanding Dost. The attack leader could not last a full ninety minutes and came within the lines halfway through the game. “Looking back, it’s nice that we get a point. But in advance we wanted to win,” said the striker.

Dost previously indicated that he had thought about a possible termination of his career. On reflection, he’s glad he didn’t. “I’ve been to a lot of places. You always see the beautiful things, the goals you make. But there is much more to it. There are also a lot of unpleasant moments. So you will think about that. But I am very I’m glad I didn’t. It’s not like I thought about it extremely, but I did look at everything for myself. Then I ended up at Utrecht,” says the attacker.

“I am very happy that I have taken this step. The people I work with treat me with respect. I get a lot of pleasure out of it, then the goals will come naturally,” said Dost, who celebrated his goals exuberantly with the fans who traveled along. “That’s the life of a striker. As soon as you score you are loved, that’s how it works. I thought it was wonderful, by the way. I just have to do my best and work hard, then you will get that with the audience. I’m glad that I’m still standing here.”
