Mathias Pogba released a series of tweets on Friday morning in which he stepped up the allegations against his brother Paul. That happened through a tweetbot, because Mathias is already incarcerated on suspicion of extortion from Paul. The ex-striker of Sparta Rotterdam once again accuses his brother of witchcraft and claims, among other things, that Paul’s ties with the underworld have led to victims in their close circle.

“If you’re reading this message, my bot has done its auto-send job,” Mathias — or the person responsible for the messages — opened in his twitter thread on Friday. “It also means that I am no longer free, either because of my brother’s accomplices or the police. So the defamatory complaints to silence me will have worked.” The person behind the tweets then states that these are ‘out of Mathias’ own free will’. “They’ll probably try to stop me, or they’ll say these messages aren’t from me, like the previous messages.” This refers to a series of video recordings that Mathias published on his TikTok account at the end of August.

After Mathias Le Monde, the French newspaper that alleged that Paul’s 32-year-old brother had forcibly posted the videos, accused of lying, launched his accusations, starting again with the subject of witchcraft. “My brother has become devoted to witchcraft lately,” he says in a video message accompanying the tweets. “He has become a follower of the soothsayer Marabout Ibrahim, an acquaintance of former player Alou Diarra, who knows him again thanks to Serge Aurier. My brother has repeatedly cursed his teammates, including child prodigy Kylian Mbappé, either out of jealousy or to win a match.” This would include the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain – Manchester United from three years ago (1-3 win). In it, the French superpower was bowled out of the billion-dollar ball after a 0-2 win in England.

Mathias then accuses Paul, whom he calls a ‘spoiled, selfish, hypocritical prince who lives for himself’, of ‘complicity in organized crime’. “It is why our families and loved ones are in danger today. My brother has always had his entourage of criminals and thugs, but the problem is that this time he has used them to protect himself on the street and to do business with.” Some of our loved ones have already been attacked and shot because of him. We just didn’t go to the authorities for fear of retaliation, and had no means to defend ourselves.” Mathias mentions the specific case of a family member who was shot on August 10; a crime that police say is indeed associated with Paul’s extortion case.

Le Monde published part of Paul’s statement to the French police in the context of the case early this week. He completed it in March. According to the Juventus midfielder, while being held at gunpoint by two men, he promised an accomplice to pay millions of euros. In the end, Paul transferred 100,000 euros and called in the police. In mid-September, a few weeks after the first TikTok videos, Mathias and the other four family members involved were taken into custody. Each of them was brought to court on Saturday.
