Brian Brobbey would do well to fire Mino Raiola, says Henk Spaan. ‘s sports journalist The Parool finds it ‘amazing’ that the agent still represents the interests of the Ajax striker after his move to RB Leipzig last summer. Spaan has nothing good to say about Raiola; Marc Overmars and Edwin van der Sar can also count on words in his weekly column.

Brobbey already played in Amsterdam until last summer, but did not accept a proposal for a new contract. The nineteen-year-old striker opted for a switch to Leipzig, where he mainly languished on the bench. In fourteen matches and only 252 minutes, Brobbey did not find the net once. At the end of December, it was announced that the Jong Oranje international would return to his old club for the rest of the season.

“So Raiola first dropped the negotiations with Ajax to be able to sell Brobbey free of charge to Leipzig”, Spaan starts. “I wonder who received the highest signing bonus: the player or the intermediary. For the player’s football career it was a deal of nothing: money in the account and emptiness in the bank. Overmars and Ten Hag have no rancor. When Brobbey let know how to long for Ajax, they provided the beds.”

Spaan then questions the decision to hire Brobbey without an option to buy. “Why? If anything is missing in the murky world of football deals, it’s transparency. Brobbey hasn’t fired Raiola yet, which surprises me. If my real estate agent buys a house I don’t want to live in, I quickly look for another.” Brobbey made his comeback for Ajax in the duel with FC Utrecht last Sunday and had a large share in the 0-3 victory with two goals. In his first period in Amsterdam, the striker already scored six goals in nineteen games.
