Zlatan Ibrahimovic makes his comeback in the base at AC Milan after fourteen months. The Swedish superstar struggled with a lingering knee injury for a long time, from which he has now recovered. Ibrahimovic also wears the club’s captain’s armband for the first time. This also makes him the oldest captain of Milan ever.

The last time Zlatan started as a starting player for in Rossoneri, was on January 23, 2022. During the match against Juventus, the former Ajax player had to leave the field after 28 minutes. Ibrahimovic made his comeback on February 26 this year as a substitute during the 2-0 win against Atalanta. Milan already hinted at a basic return for Ibrahimovic on social media, by posting a photo of the attacker’s shirt with the pennant of the match next to him.

In the caption of the tweet, Milan placed a ‘C’, which, like the pennant, already seemed to strongly hint that Ibrahimovic would wear the captain’s armband. This has now been confirmed by the club. It is the first time that Ibrahimovic has led his team onto the field as captain. In addition, the 41-year-old striker becomes the oldest captain of the club ever. Against Udinese, the Scandinavian is served from the flanks by Rafael Leão and Brahim Díaz. Olivier Giroud (suspended) Junior Messias (injured) and Theo Hernández (sick) are missing.

National team
It is therefore an excellent week for Ibrahimovic, who was told this week that he has been called up for the national team by Swedish national coach Janne Andersson. That was quite remarkable, as Ibrahimovic only played 69 minutes as a substitute until Sunday evening, spread over three games. Ibrahimovic has played 121 international matches for Sweden so far, scoring 62 goals.
