Roy Keane has lost faith in David de Gea and Luke Shaw. The Manchester United pair made a flashy mistake in Bernardo Silva’s 0-2 in the city derby against Manchester City. Keane, club legend of United, had with Sky Sports not a good word for the goalkeeper and the left back of the Red Devils. “I have given up hope in these players. They are internationals!” the former midfielder sighed.

Keane saw how Manchester United had to concede two goals in the first half against Manchester City. The team of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fell behind early on with an own goal from Eric Bailly. Bernardo Silva doubled the visitors’ lead just before half-time. Shaw thought he could miss a pass from João Cancelo, but had not counted on Bernardo Silva. De Gea then misjudged the Portuguese’s shot at the far post.

The goal against made Keane furious in the TV studio. “Look at Shaw and De Gea. What chance do you have in this game?” the former United captain wondered aloud. “I haven’t seen it in these guys for years. I’ve given up hope on these players. They are internationals! I don’t understand how they defend.. I drove here and thought: maybe Manchester United have a chance, they also play at home. But if United don’t make drastic changes, they won’t finish higher than fourth or fifth. Look at McTominay, Fred… Those are players who are not good enough for United. They’ve been giving away opportunities all season,” Keane concluded his tirade.

Manchester United have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 14 home games, the second worst streak in the club’s history. The team of coach Solskjaer is fifth in the Premier League, eight points behind leaders Chelsea. The home defeat to Manchester City only increases the pressure on the Norwegian manager. United’s next game is an away game against Watford on November 20.
