Dusan Tadic is not thinking about leaving Ajax for the time being. The 32-year-old captain of the team from Amsterdam has been enjoying himself with the brand new national champion for three years. In an interview with Football International let the routine know that he is not thinking about stopping for the time being and that he expects to stay with Ajax for a long time.

Tadic made the switch from Southampton to Ajax in the summer of 2018 for a minimum of 11.7 million and a maximum of 13.7 million euros. Since then he has won two national titles, twice the TOTO KNVB Cup and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in his first season with Ajax. Tadic says he has no idea how long he can continue at the highest level. “But as long as I feel fit, I want to keep playing football,” he says in the weekly. “Hopefully that will take a long time. I am also not at all concerned with what I want after my active playing career. Yes, football attracts me in several areas, perhaps also the trainer’s profession, but I now have full focus on football itself. And I am very happy at Ajax, so I expect to stay here for a long time. ”

With his goals and assists, he has been invaluable to Erik ten Hag’s team for three years in a row. This season, the counter has reached 22 goals and 25 assists in all competitions. “Ajax has always been my dream club and the current circumstances do not give any reason to think about leaving,” emphasizes Tadic. “The spirit within the group and the club’s plan are all right. And Erik ten Hag will also stay next season. If we can continue and build further with the core of this team, I see the future very brightly. Of course, players from Ajax are always drawn to, but the club has also shown that they can handle this well. ”

Because of his good performances, Tadic was awarded a new contract in 2019 until mid-2023. Even after that period, he will remain with the club. At the time, Ajax announced that the Serbian international will focus on the trainer’s profession at De Toekomst at least until mid-2026. Tadic says he learns a lot from head coach Ten Hag. “It is also wonderful to talk to him about football, to really go into depth. He is very smart and tactical of a top level. That results in great conversations, in which we really do not always agree, ”says Tadic.
