Almere City booked its third win in a row in the Kitchen Champion Division on Sunday afternoon. The team of trainer Alex Pastoor quickly took the lead, but saw FC Dordrecht come alongside just as quickly. Anthony Limbombe then provided an explosion of joy for the home team in the absolute final phase. Jeredy Hilterman missed a penalty twice just before that. Almere City occupies fifth place in the ranking due to the victory. Dordrecht is number eighteen.
In Almere it was not long to wait for the first goal: in the second minute it was immediately hit from the first corner of the match. The home team took the lead through the head of Stije Resink. That same Resink caused a penalty on the other side of the field two minutes later. The midfielder was shown a yellow card for his foul. Samuele Longo scored the penalty superbly: 1-1. For the Italian striker it was his fifth goal in the shirt of the sheep heads.
Pastoor’s team seemed to take the lead again just before half-time, but Limbombe saw his effort bounce off the fists of Liam Bossin. It turned out to be a postponement for the visitors, as Limbombe managed to work himself on the scoreboard in the final phase. The winger saw two teammates miss and decided to take it into his own hands: 2-1. Just before the goal, Limbombe was pulled to the ground. The penalty that followed from Hilterman was taken by Bossin. The second penalty kick – Bossin came off his line too early on the first attempt – did not go in and shattered on the post.
