Eden Hazard plans to ‘just’ serve out his contract with Real Madrid, which runs until mid-2024. That reports The Athletic wednesday morning. The 32-year-old Belgian, who recently retired early as an international, does not seem to be concerned about his lack of playing time. Hazard barely played for the Royal, but doesn’t seem to want to give up his Real salary. Reportedly, the winger receives about twenty million euros in Madrid on an annual basis.

Hazard is a superfluous force in the Santiago Bernabéu under trainer Carlo Ancelotti. The 126-time international of the Red Devils only played 296 minutes this season, spread over seven appearances. His last goal and assist date from September 6 last year, during Real’s 0-3 away win over Celtic in the Champions League. Furthermore, Hazard was not involved in goals from the Spanish superpower this season.

Hazard played his last game for Real on January 3 of this year, during the 0-1 cup victory over fourth divisionist Cacereno. That is now more than two months ago. Nevertheless, the Belgian feels no rush for a possible exodus from Real. Last summer, Hazard was linked to Turkish clubs such as Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. However, Hazard, who was taken over from Chelsea for €115 million in July 2019, knows that he will not earn the annual salary he currently receives in Madrid anywhere.

As a result, Hazard’s career threatens to fizzle out. Since his million-dollar transfer to Real, the right leg has only played 73 times for the club. Hazard scored seven goals and provided eleven assists in the virgin white. Nevertheless, he managed to realize his boyhood dream in Spain: last season, the Belgian won the Champions League with Real. Hazard left the national team of Belgium after the disappointing World Cup in Qatar. According to critics, the decision of the then 31-year-old attacker was ‘unambitious’.
