Christian Giménez, the father of Feyenoord striker Santiago, wants his son to continue playing in Rotterdam for some time. According to the Mexican branch of Mark Sevilla is one of the clubs with a concrete interest in the 21-year-old attack leader. However, Giménez senior believes that his son should not leave the leader of the Netherlands yet. “We want him to stay with Feyenoord.

Giménez came over from the Mexican CD Cruz Azul last summer. General manager Dennis te Kloese confirmed on Monday NRC that Feyenoord initially only took over fifty percent of Giménez’s transfer rights. The director did not want to drop a precise transfer fee, although the amount is lower than the aforementioned four million euros. Due to contractual agreements, the Rotterdammers now own more than sixty percent of Giménez’s transfer rights.

According to Transfer market Giménez, who is still stuck in De Kuip until mid-2026, is now worth six million euros. On Tuesday it was announced that Sevilla, to whom the nine-time international from Mexico (two goals) was already linked last winter, is now really convinced of Giménez’s qualities. His father seems to think it is still too early for a new transfer. “We want him to stay with Feyenoord, we are happy with the club. It’s a very big club!”

Giménez senior, who himself played five international matches for Mexico in the past and played for Boca Juniors, among others, notices that his son is completely at home in the Netherlands. “Santiago feels the support and the coach loves him. He still has to grow, we know that. We are in no hurry to make big leaps. It is important not to float.” Giménez is therefore working on an excellent debut season in South Rotterdam. The left leg was good for twelve goals and two assists in his first 31 games for Feyenoord. However, Giménez only needed 1,404 minutes of play for that.
