Antoine Griezmann had a great evening on Saturday. The French attacker and star player of Atlético Madrid scored a hat-trick on a visit to Celta de Vigo and was therefore personally responsible for the resounding 0-3 victory. Celta goalie Iván Villar was sent off early in the match, which played into Atlético’s hands.
Particularities:
Villar got into trouble after 25 minutes after he brought down Álvaro Morata in the box and was sent off. Griezmann converted the penalty and scored the opening goal in Galicia: 0-1. The Frenchman also scored his second of the evening after more than an hour of play. After a rush from the halfway line he found himself on the edge of the sixteen. Everyone expected a cross and Griezmann took that into account. His shot into the short corner surprised everyone, including substitute goalie Vicente Guaita: 0-2. The 0-3 was a beautifully played team goal. After a sprint, Morata gave way to Nahuel Molina, who in turn gave way to Griezmann. From close range he hit with his left.
