Latest update:

VVV-Venlo seems to have definitively dropped out of the race for the promotion play-offs. The Limburgers surprisingly lost 2-1 when they visited Jong AZ. The Alkmaarders played almost the entire match with ten men, after a hard and rash karate kick by Lewis Schouten on the head of Levi Smans earned the AZ defender a red card. At the same time, PSV's promises triumphed over FC Utrecht's peers: 2-0.

Jong AZ – VVV-Venlo 2-1

After just a few minutes into the game, the home team was red-faced. Schouten tried to reach a high ball with his foot in the opponent's half, but hit Smans full in the face. The VVV midfielder remained on the ground for a long time and went to the side, visibly upset, before returning to the field only a few minutes later. Schouten left the field with a red print.

Smans took sporting revenge in the first half, by making it 0-1 with a beautiful solo. Deep in Jong AZ's half, he started a dribble, leaving several Alkmaar players behind, before pushing the ball behind Rome's Jayden Owusu-Oduro.

Despite the fact that Jong AZ played with ten men for the vast majority of the match, the U23 team dominated the match. That resulted in the equalizer after more than an hour of play. Denzo Kasius received the ball on the right sideline, passed his direct opponent and outpaced Delano van Crooy: 1-1.

In the final phase of the game things went completely wrong for VVV. After a foul by Mohammed Odriss in his own box, Jong AZ was awarded a penalty. This was used by Jayden Addai: 2-1.

The match between the promises of PSV and FC Utrecht became a prey for the Eindhoven team. This was not least due to a stupid red card from Lynden Edhart, who had to leave the field within half an hour after a hard tackle on a Young PSV player.

Goals from Jesper Uneken (header) and Mohamed Nassoh, who left for Sparta Rotterdam (shot from the edge of sixteen) then settled the match in favor of the home team: 2-0.
