Rinus Israël enjoys Dávid Hancko and hopes that the central defender will remain associated with Feyenoord for some time to come. If the Slovakian defender does leave the Rotterdam team, the Premier League is the best choice, according to the 1970 European Cup winner.

“He has become a complete defender. He has a great left leg, with which he can put the balls behind the opponent's defense,” Israel praised Hancko in an interview with the NOS.

Israel makes a comparison with his own career as a player. “Defensively he is not as merciless as I was, but he doesn't need that either. In a more civilized manner he is holding his own very well.”

“He is also strong offensively. He often gets into the opponent's box and is a good header.” Hancko scored 6 goals in 43 matches for Feyenoord in all competitions this season.

Hancko has a continuous contract with Feyenoord until the summer of 2028. Israel also knows that contracts no longer mean much these days. The former defender gives Hancko advice in that context if he actually leaves Rotterdam this summer.

“If he goes, I would opt for a sub-topper in England. There, more is required physically and he can develop best. If I were Feyenoord, I would at least ask a lot for Hancko. As far as I'm concerned, he will stay in for a while. Netherlands,” Hancko is told.

Million offer

Napoli has made the first contacts to pick up Dávid Hancko from Feyenoord this summer, it was reported La Gazzetta dello Sport Thursday. According to the pink sports newspaper, the Rotterdam team is betting on a transfer fee of 30 million euros, while the Italian national champion thinks that 20 million euros is enough to attract the 26-year-old defender.

Chairman Aurelio de Laurentiis is even said to be busy preparing for that opening bid. Feyenoord took over the Slovakian international from Sparta Prague for 8.3 million euros in the summer of 2022. The versatile left-footer is now worth a multiple of that amount.
