Latest update:

Graham Potter has rejected Ajax's first proposal, journalist Johan Inan reports Algemeen Dagblad Thursday. The salary proposal offered by the Amsterdam team does not come close to the demands of the 48-year-old manager. According to Inan, the rejection has nothing to do with sporting grounds, but Potter is simply aiming for a higher salary.

It A.D has a simple explanation for the decision of the clubless trainer. “The reason for Potter to immediately reject that first offer is that Ajax did not come close to the salary he had in mind.”

Ajax and Potter are currently far apart financially. “This means that the cost-cutting top club will have to go much further to recruit the top candidate for the coaching post,” says Inan.

According to the journalist, Potter sees a sporting challenge in Ajax, which mainly has to do with his bond with Alex Kroes. Inan knows that Kroes and Potter have known each other for a long time.

“After the general manager officially started at Ajax on March 15, he immediately continued discussions with Potter in Amsterdam, flanked by football director Marijn Beuker and head of scouting Kelvin de Lang,” said Inan.
