Gareth Bale is going to play Tottenham Hotspur with a striking back number. The London club announces Saturday night that the Welsh winger, hired for one season from Real Madrid and thus returning to the old nest, will play with number 9.

The fact that Bale is going to play with number 9 can be called a surprise, as the number is normally reserved for centre strikers. Attack leader Harry Kane van Tottenham however plays with number 10. The old number 11 that Bale wore at both Real Madrid and Tottenham will be played at The Spurs currently worn by Erik Lamela.

Bale also played with Tottenham earlier with number 3 and number 16. Sergio Reguilón, just like Bale took over from Real Madrid on Saturday, will play with number 3; Bale has left number 16 in favor of number 9.
