Wilfried Gnonto will be a Leeds United player for the next five years, so make it the peacocks announced Thursday night. The eighteen-year-old Italian was heavily associated with a move to Feyenoord in the past transfer summer, but is now entering the Premier League. Leeds reportedly pays about 4.5 million euros to FC Zurich.

Gnonto was already mentioned at the beginning of the transfer window as one of the main transfer targets for Feyenoord, but trainer Arne Slot had his doubts about the Italian. Slot saw more of a striker in Gnonto in a 4-4-2 system, where Feyenoord had more need for a winger who could replace Luis Sinisterra immediately. The Rotterdam club has now signed Igor Paixão for that position. The Brazilian came over from Coritiba for approximately five million euros and is now entitled to play.

Leeds have been very active in the last few days of the transfer market anyway. The club did everything it could to get Cody Gakpo to England, but was canceled at the last minute by the Eindhoven winger from PSV. Leeds then turned all their attention to Bamba Dieng, goalscorer in the Conference League semi-final against Feyenoord, but the attacker from Olympique Marseille did not pass the inspection. Now a new winger has been added to the selection with Gnonto, who Leeds already wanted to record as a project anyway.

With Daniel James, Leeds did see a forward player leave, which seems to have strengthened Sinisterra’s position in manager Jesse March’s team. The 23-year-old Colombian got off to a great start at Leeds. In his first five official games, Sinisterra scored two goals and provided an assist in just 183 minutes. On social media, Sinisterra, who left Feyenoord as a record transfer for 25 million euros, has been described several times by English football fans in recent days as the bargain of this transfer summer. In addition, Sinisterra’s stats are compared with Gakpo and Antony’s stats.
