The analysts of Veronica Inside were dissatisfied with the level of the first round of play in the Eredivisie. Nevertheless, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen saw some bright spots on the Dutch pitches, including Joey Veerman van sc Heerenveen. According to the analysts, the 21-year-old midfielder could also join AZ, Ajax or Feyenoord.

Veerman excelled in the opening game of the Eredivisie on Saturday evening against Willem II (2-0 win). The former midfielder of FC Volendam scattered with crosses, and was responsible for the assist on Pawel Bochniewicz in the 2-0. “I think Joey Veerman is such a good soccer player, that I find it incomprehensible that AZ did not take that boy”, says Johan Derksen, who is told by presenter Wilfred Genee that Veerman has to cost five million euros.

Derksen adds that Feyenoord Veerman could also have caught up last year, when he was still under contract with Volendam. “Then Feyenoord get that boy, that slow guy who has been to England, who is now always at AZ wissel (Jordy Clasie, ed…). Then you get him, while Veerman lives a door down the road. Even Ajax… For five million euros I think it’s risk-free.”

René van der Gijp is also impressed. “It looks incredibly easy with him,” says the ex-right outside. “And he hasn’t lost a ball. And how much class would he be better than Razvan Marin? How much did they pay for that?”, asks Van der Gijp, who is then told by Derksen that Veerman ‘is five times as good as Marin’. Marin was taken over by Ajax last year for 12.5 million euros from Standard Liège and is now leased to Cagliari.

By the way, it is not the first time that Derksen is singing the praises of Veerman. The analyst already stated in February that Heerenveen’s midfielder ‘would play like that at Ajax’. “He’s actually an Ajax song. He puts the balls down, always does something good. There’s always a thought behind it. I think that Veerman would play along with Ajax just like that”, Derksen said then.
