Ruud van Nistelrooij has announced PSV’s line-up for Saturday night’s away match against NEC. Olivier Boscagli has a basic place with the Eindhoven team for the first time in 356 days. No risk is being taken with Ibrahim Sangaré, so the midfielder starts on the bench, just like Anwar El Ghazi and Fábio Silva. The match in Nijmegen starts at 8 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN 1.
Goalkeeper Joël Drommel sees Philipp Mwene, André Ramalho, Boscagli and Patrick van Aanholt from right to left. PSV’s midfield is formed by Érick Gutiérrez, Guus Til and Joey Veerman. Luuk de Jong, as captain and captain, hopes for supply from the sides of Johan Bakayoko and Xavi Simons. For Boscagli, who has already come in a few times, it is his first starting place in almost a year. Van Nistelrooij added the young Belgian Fedde Leysen (19) to the selection at the last minute. For Jasper Cillessen and Bart van Rooij it was a week to remember. During the last international period, the former made playing minutes for the Dutch national team for the first time since June 2022, while Van Rooij extended his contract by two seasons and is now committed to NEC until mid-2025. Trainer Rogier Meijer knows that his team, despite the many draws this season (13), still has a good chance of winning European football. During the international break, NEC gained the necessary confidence by beating a stripped-down Feyenoord 1-2. Philippe Sandler has recovered from an upper leg injury, but Calvin Verdonk is still absent. Earlier this season it was 3-0 for PSV.
Although the people of Eindhoven start the game as favorites, things are not going quite as hoped this season. Particularly in away games, Van Nistelrooij’s team has trouble. Only one win has been won in their last seven games on foreign soil in all competitions. Nevertheless, the necessary players gained the necessary confidence during the international break. Sangaré had a brilliant assist for Ivory Coast, while Bakayoko also prepared a goal beautifully during his debut for Belgium.
