The semi-final in the Conference League between FC Basel and Fiorentina (1-3) came to a halt in the second half of extra time. A supporter of the Italian visitors had become unwell and had to be resuscitated in the away section. It is currently unknown how the supporter is doing. At the time of the temporary halt, Fiorentina was leading 1-2. The club from Florence eventually won 1-3 through a goal from Antonín Barák in the ninth minute of injury time and therefore faces West Ham United in the final, which AZ eliminated in the other semi-final.

Fiorentina players and staff watched tensely as the sick supporter was treated by medical staff. The match in the Conference League semi-final was halted for a total of ten minutes due to the incident in the stands. After the interruption, Fiorentina struck hard in the final phase, resulting in La Viola for the first time since 1990 in a European final. At the time, they lost 3-1 to Juventus in the final of the UEFA Cup.
