The fan who attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic on Thursday evening is known to PSV, so it is known Eindhovens Dagblad report Thursday evening. On the stroke of the final signal, the closing post was attacked with fists by a field attacker, who, as it turns out, should never have been in the stadium. PSV knows the identity of the perpetrator, who has often caused problems in the past.

A PSV supporter caused a violent incident in the Philips Stadium on Thursday evening. The miscreant entered the field, shoved the unsuspecting Marko Dmitrovic in the back and then landed on top of the Sevilla goalkeeper. Dmitrovic quickly received help from PSV striker Luuk de Jong and stewards who rushed over, after which the attacker was taken away by security. The incident may have far-reaching consequences for PSV. A hefty penalty from UEFA hangs over the club.

According to reports, a 20-year-old man was taken away by the police. The perpetrator already had a stadium ban due to an earlier incident at the club, but nevertheless managed to evade access control. Exactly how the attacker managed to slip past security is as yet unknown. “The fact that he escaped attention during access control despite a stadium ban can be attributed to PSV because the Eindhoven club is ultimately responsible for the orderly course of matches,” the newspaper writes.

General director Marcel Brands is going to fight for a very heavy punishment, he said. “Unfortunately, we have to deal with people like this in society. Our own supporters are also furious with him and he has already had a few blows from them, I understand. It is very serious what has happened here and this raises then reaction to it because our people don’t accept this.”
