Dávid Hancko was injured during Feyenoord’s training on Tuesday, reports 1908.nl. The ankle injury was serious enough to stop training. It is not known exactly how long Hancko will be out of circulation.

Hancko made the switch from Sparta Prague to Feyenoord last summer and immediately grew into an undisputed basic player. He started every Eredivisie game in the base so far. His injury is a setback for Slot, who has not been able to rely on Gernot Trauner in recent months. The Austrian centre-back sustained a knee injury at the end of last year.

Hancko formed a center with Trauner before the World Cup break. After the injury of the latter, Slot Lutsharel placed Geertruida in the heart of the Rotterdam defense. With Hancko and Geertruida as the central duo, Feyenoord remained undefeated this calendar year. In the Eredivisie has the stadium club as leader three points ahead of Ajax, while in the TOTO KNVB Cup the quarterfinals were reached.

Oussama Idrissi and Sebastian Szymanski trained on Tuesday according to 1908.nl separate from the group. Justin Bijlow did participate, but he could only train with his feet due to a broken wrist. Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Gernot Trauner were finally absent. Feyenoord awaits an away match against Fortuna Sittard on Sunday, after which the cup match with sc Heerenveen is scheduled for March 3.
