Mohamed Taabouni continues his career at Feyenoord, the club confirms through the official channels. The twenty-year-old attacking midfielder comes over from AZ and signs for two years in De Kuip. After Mats Wieffer and Danilo, Taabouni is the third reinforcement for the team of trainer Arne Slot, under whom he made his debut at AZ in 2019.

Football International reported last Sunday that the transition from Taabouni to Feyenoord was almost complete. Only a medical examination separated the midfielder from employment in Rotterdam. AZ recently made an attempt to extend the expiring contract of the creative midfielder, but Taabouni did not see a new contract in Alkmaar. He had been in the interest of various domestic and foreign clubs for a long time and therefore preferred to leave. Feyenoord proved decisive and signed the midfielder for two years.

The right leg is reunited at Feyenoord with trainer Arne Slot, among whom Taabouni made his debut in the first team of AZ in 2019. In the past three seasons, the creative had to settle for a place in the Jong AZ team. Taabouni made 96 official appearances in the Alkmaar U23 team. Last football season he played 32 Kitchen Champion Division matches, in which he scored 5 times and provided 3 assists.

Taabouni is Feyenoord’s third official acquisition, after the arrival of both Danilo (Ajax, transfer-free) and Wieffer (Excelsior) was previously confirmed by the Rotterdam team. Anticipating the imminent departure of Tyrell Malacia, Ian Maatsen (Chelsea) also seems to be joining in the foreseeable future. Slot is also reportedly still looking for offensive reinforcements, with the names of Calvin Stengs (OGC Nice) and Wilfried Gnonto (FC Zurich) singing around in De Kuip.
