Arne Slot’s attacking options for Feyenoord’s competition opener against Vitesse are shrinking by the day. After it became clear that Santiago Giménez would not get his work permit in time for the competition in Arnhem and Oussama Idrissi is missing competition rhythm, reports Football International Tuesday afternoon that Javairô Dilrosun may also have to skip the season overture.

The wing attacker probably suffered an injury in last Sunday’s 1-2 loss practice match against Osasuna. It is not clear what exactly is wrong with Dilrosun, but at least he was not on the training field on Tuesday. There is therefore a serious chance that the one-time the Dutch international will have to let the confrontation with Vitesse in the GelreDome pass by. Dilrosun, who was taken over from Hertha BSC this summer, may have to postpone his official debut for Feyenoord.

That will also apply to other newcomers such as Idrissi and Sebastian Szymanski. These two lack match rhythm and certainly cannot play a full match. Dropping in is one of the options. Because Giménez had to return to Mexico after his presentation in De Kuip to arrange a work permit, Slot has few offensive tastes. Danilo, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Patrik Walemark will probably play in the Rotterdam vanguard on Sunday.

The timing of Dilrosun’s injury is unfavorable for Feyenoord and Slot. In addition to missing a number of offensive players, the club is already struggling with an injury wave. Mats Wieffer and Orkun Kökçü will not make their appearance for the Stadionclub for the time being and Gernot Trauner is not completely fit either. The Austrian stopper is on his way back and seems to be back in action in the foreseeable future. Whether that will be possible on Sunday remains to be seen.
