By reaching the Conference League final, Feyenoord can already add almost thirteen million euros. With a win at AS Roma, another two million is added. The Rotterdammers will cross swords with the Romans on May 25, after getting through three preliminary rounds and four rounds in the main tournament. So far, the counter stands at approximately thirteen million euros, but on the other hand are the sky-high fines that Feyenoord was imposed by UEFA for, among other things, setting off fireworks and throwing objects.

The European season already started for Feyenoord in July with preliminary round matches against FC Drita (Kosovo), FC Luzern (Switzerland) and IF Elfsborg (Sweden), which was good for an amount of 2.94 million euros. Subsequently, the team of trainer Arne Slot won four of the six group matches, which raised an amount of two million euros. The two draws in the group stage brought in more than three hundred thousand euros. Reaching the next round yielded Feyenoord a sloppy million euros (650,000 as group head and 300,000 for reaching the next round).

Feyenoord is now four rounds further and the total amount has been increased by 6.6 million euros to 12.82 million euros. Reaching the last sixteen yielded 600,000 euros, one million was paid for reaching the quarterfinals and the semifinals were good for two million euros. For reaching the final, the Rotterdammers can look forward to three million euros from UEFA. Winning the third European club tournament yields another two million euros. If Feyenoord manages to deal with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma in Tirana, the total could thus come to 14.82 million euros. The approximately 13 million euros stands in stark contrast to Ajax’s earnings in the Champions League this season. The team from Amsterdam won all their group matches and died in the eighth finals, which was good for a total amount of more than seventy million euros.

Blemish on the European campaign are the sky-high fines that Feyenoord was imposed by UEFA. For example, for blocking the stairs, setting off fireworks and throwing objects, more than 400,000 euros had already been transferred to the European Football Association. This week, another 28,125 euros was added, because UEFA penalized Feyenoord for throwing objects in the away game at Slavia Prague. “The club finds it disappointing that the European Football Association finds it necessary to issue a fine again. The exuberant celebration of the goals by the supporters who traveled with their own selection cannot be translated as throwing objects (maliciously), nor does it fit such a fine amount,” the club said.
