Fenerbahçe is working on the arrival of Halil Dervisoglu, various media in Turkey report. According to reports from, among others, sporx the top club from the Süper Lig has reached an agreement with Brentford about a rental period with a rent of one million euros. Fenerbahçe still has more than a week to smooth the transfer, because the summer window in Turkey continues until Wednesday 8 September. However, there are several privateers on the coast.

A switch from Dervisoglu to Fenerbahçe would be spicy, because he played for arch-rival Galatasaray last season. He was rented out to FC Twente in the first half of the season and to Galatasaray in the second half. Employed by Cim Bom the Turkish-Dutch attacker scored three goals in twelve league matches. He was given a starting spot six times. Dervisoglu missed part of the season due to contracting the coronavirus. In five of the last six games in the Süper Lig, Dervisoglu has kicked off.

Dervisoglu, four-time international of Turkey and this summer European Championship-goer, does not have to count on much playing time at Brentford. In the first three Premier League games of the new season, he stayed on the bench for 90 minutes. Dervisoglu did, however, participate in 67 minutes last Tuesday in the won EFL Cup match with Forest Green Rovers (3-1). His contract with Brentford will run until mid-2024. Dervisoglu came over from Sparta Rotterdam in January 2020 for approximately three million euros and played seven official games for Brentford in his first season.

Hurriyet writes that several clubs from Turkey are interested in the arrival of Dervisoglu. Galatasaray hopes to welcome Dervisoglu again: the club is preparing for the departure of Mostafa Mohamed to Girondins de Bordeaux and sees a suitable successor in the born Rotterdammer. Sabah Earlier reported that Erdal Torunogullari, a Den Bosch board member of Besiktas, contacted Brentford and pointed out that Dervisoglu could play Champions League football at that club.
